EMS Customer Service Coordinator role with an EMS Transportation Company. Offering a full range of medical transportation services ranging from the most advanced high-risk critical care emergency transports to non-emergency services.

Temp to Perm (conversion expected around 90 days)

Rate: $15-16/hr (as temp)

Location: Bayshore, NY



  • Answers all incoming telephone calls in Communications Center
  • Schedule all transports in conjunction with the dispatcher
  • Obtain documents and all pertinent transport information
  • Request including, but not necessarily limited to:
  • Date of transport request, Person making the request along with their telephone number, Sending facility, Patient destination, Mode of transportation (ambulance, ALS or BLS), All pertinent patient demographic data, Determination of Medical Necessity (if applicable), Level of patient care required vs. requested (ALS, BLS), All Billing information, Accepting and sending physician when applicable, Diagnosis and Past Medical History when applicable
  • Obtain all documents and critical information on each transport via computer or paper.
  • Prioritizes transport requests as needed
  • Notifies the on-duty supervisor when handling early morning calls, in order to arrange proper resources to handle the call.
  • Provides customer service/support liaison to clients & customers
  • Maintains a professional phone etiquette at all times
  • Determines customer transportation needs and schedules transportation requests as appropriate
  • Obtains pre-transport insurance authorizations as required
  • Assists Communications staff as needed
  • Routine clerical tasks (e.g. filing and photocopying)
  • Performs related duties as may be assigned by Supervision
  • Conform to dress code and personal hygiene standards
  • Assist other department members as needed
  • Support and adhere to company procedures and policies


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Data entry skills
  • Customer Service and good telephone skills
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare billing a plus but not required
  • General geographical knowledge of Long Island and 5 Boroughs a plus but not required


  • Ability to sit for long periods of time in an indoor office environment
  • Hearing within normal limits


  • 1 year of Customer Service Experience


  • Late afternoon and evening availability
