Title: Senior Claims Associate
Location: New York (hybrid)
Salary: $90k – $120k
Overview:
5-10 years of Claims experience in particular with Property and Liability Claims. Proactive type of person who takes initiative and will work closely with underwriters and clients. Responsibilities:
This role requires performance of claims analysis at a high level. Key responsibilities include being able to evaluate the details of the claim, identify claims issues, take proactive action, problem solve and advocate on behalf of the client.
The position requires a deep understanding of property and liability claims handling. Responsibilities include being able to identify and analyze claims issues (coverage and liability) and alert the Head of Claims accordingly, being able to explain your claims evaluation to the client so that the client fully understands all issues associated with the claim and how they will likely be resolved, and being able to advocate on behalf of the client in communications with adjusters.
Responsibilities also include pro-active claims management and preparation of timely and accurate updates to clients regarding claim developments. You will be in charge of your own claim load and must follow up and handle issues as appropriate for each claim under your purview.
With respect to property claims, responsibilities include having a deep and broad knowledge of the standard coverage forms and exclusions, documentation required to support a claim, loss investigation with outside vendors, and submission of proof of loss. Generally, you must be able to walk the client through the claims process and advocate on the client’s behalf as necessary.
With respect to liability claims, responsibilities include having a deep and broad knowledge of coverages and exclusions, defense under a reservation of rights from the carrier, all liability issues alleged in the claim, damages and claim settlement. Responsibilities also include advocating on the client’s behalf and an understanding of that dynamic is very important.
Responsibilities also include a working knowledge of Commercial Auto, Worker’s Compensation, BOP, EPLI, Personal Auto, Homeowners, and Fine Arts claims handling.
Qualifications:
- At least 7-10 years’ experience in insurance claims adjusting
- Proven and significant industry knowledge required
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with clients in a professional manner
- Demonstrate excellent writing, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to issue spot claims issues and clearly communicate claims analyses to clients
- Advocate on behalf of the client
